Glaucoma Cypass Surgery

Our doctors and surgeons are committed to offering you the latest and greatest in eye care solutions. We were the first in the State of Michigan to implant CyPass Micro-Stent at the time of cataract surgery to lower intraocular pressure for patients dealing with Glaucoma and Ocular Hypertension.

The CyPass Micro-Stent is a small device that is implanted just below the surface of the eye. It is designed to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma, which may reduce or eliminate the need for glaucoma medications.

The Micro-Stent is designed to enhance part of one of the natural drainage pathways in the eye. This allows the excess fluid in the eye to drain, thus reducing IOP levels. It is 6.35mm long with an outer diameter of 0.51mm.In trials the device was shown to have a significant decrease in number of medications used as well as a significant decrease in patient’s introcular pressure post-operatively. Additionally, the device has been shown to have a high safety profile with minimal adverse events.
