VUITY Eye Drops in Detroit

Eye Drops to Correct Presbyopia and Reduce Dependence on Reading Glasses

As the first FDA-approved eye drop for presbyopia, VUITY™ eye drops are a new development in the treatment of age-related near vision loss. At Fraser Eye, we understand that changes in vision can be frustrating and reading glasses can get in the way of many hobbies and activities. We are excited to offer this innovative non-surgical treatment option that can help our patients in Metro-Detroit reduce their dependence on readers.

What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is an age-related change in vision that causes people to have difficulty seeing up close. As we age, the lens of the eye stiffens and is not able to properly focus light toward the retina. Presbyopia can affect people as young as 35 years old and most people notice a change in their near vision by their mid-forties.1

How Do VUITY Eye Drops Work?

VUITY eye drops help your eyes focus close-up by constricting the size of your pupil. If you have ever looked through a pinhole camera, you have a sense of how changing perspective in this way can reduce near vision blurriness. Pilocarpine, the active ingredient in VUITY drops, has previously been used in other eye medications.

VUITY eye drops are available by prescription only and they are intended as a once daily eye drop to temporarily correct presbyopia. This treatment works best during the daytime, which makes it a great option for people who would like to improve their near vision during the work day.

Benefits of VUITY

  • Easy to use once daily drop
  • Studies show significant improvement in vision2
  • Immediate results
  • Improves near vision for up to 6 hours a day

Can VUITY Drops Replace My Reading Glasses?

VUITY drops are a temporary solution for mild to moderate presbyopia. When you use VUITY drops, you can expect an improvement in near vision for up to 6 hours. VUITY can reduce your dependence on reading glasses and help you accomplish some tasks without them, but you should still expect to use readers.

VUITY Eye Drops Compared to Other Presbyopia Treatments

VUITY is exciting because it is an easy to use, non-surgical treatment option. However, VUITY is a temporary solution and it is not right for everyone. If you are seeking permanent correction of presbyopia, a surgical option may be right for you. At Fraser Eye we offer several procedures that can restore near vision:

  • Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)
  • Corneal Inlay
