Life without glasses or bifocals is something most people experienced when they were young. Today, Fraser Eye Care Center and the Eye Care Center of Port Huron are now able to give patients choices after Cataract surgery, choices that affect their vision outcomes and possibly freedom from glasses.
During cataract surgery an intraocular lens (IOL) is inserted to replace the natural lens that was removed during cataract surgery. The lens power is determined based upon a series of pre-operative tests. We are able to give patients advice about their options for IOL choice once the testing is complete.
Options that are available to our patients include:
Standard monofocal IOL: Corrects vision at distance or near depending upon the patient’s specific activities of daily living. It is likely that the patient will need glasses for some activities and in some circumstances will need glasses all the time.
