Vivior Monitor at Fraser Eye

Posted On: 2020-09-14 | OD education

The team at Fraser Eye is dedicated to advanced eye care, which includes bringing the latest vision care technologies to patients in the Detroit area. We are pleased to announce our newest diagnostic device: the Vivior Monitor, a new tool that aims to improve how to set eyes for both Cataract and LASIK surgery in order to optimize refractive outcomes and improve patient satisfaction post-operatively.

What is Vivior Monitor?

Vivior Monitor is an eyeglasses attachment that can be worn on prescription or clear glasses. The monitor contains 3 sensors measuring distance, ambient light and color, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, and a magnetometer. The sensor data is reported as patient behavioral data to give you a picture of how much time your patient devotes to tasks requiring near, intermediate and distance vision. This data is further broken down based on daytime, nighttime, weekday, weekend and light condition. The goal is to take the guesswork out of assessing patient behavior by providing real-time data that will allow you and your patient to more clearly identify their vision needs and goals. Patients are given the Vivior monitor system to take home and the sensor is placed on their eye-glass temple or on a plano blank spectacle that is provided for them for a period of at least 48 hrs.

Dr. M. Basha, a Board Certified Ophthalmologist at Fraser Eye, says, “The Vivior Monitor is a game-changer! For the first time ever, we no longer need to base anterior segment surgical planning based on subjective (unsubstantiated) thoughts and feelings, but rather based on objective facts and data that are only meant to help the doctor plan appropriately.”
